Description
Candesartan is prescribed to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lowering high blood pressure levels helps to prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney issues. Candesartan belongs to the angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) medication class, which works to relax blood vessels, allowing for smoother blood flow. Furthermore, it is used in the treatment of heart failure. Notably, this drug is not recommended for use in children under the age of one year due to an increased risk of side effects.
Candesartan How To Use

Administer this medication orally, with or without food, as directed by your doctor, often once or twice daily. The dosage is determined by your medical condition and response to the treatment. The dosage for pediatric patients is also dictated by their weight.
Candesartan Side Effects
Adverse Effects: A medicine may have unwanted side effects in addition to its intended effects. While not all of these side effects may occur, obtaining medical attention is advised if they do.
Inform your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side symptoms occur:
- Rare:
- Arm, back, or jaw discomfort
- Gum bleeding
- Pain or discomfort in the chest
- Feeling of chest constriction or heaviness
- Chills
- Coughing and hoarseness
- Dizziness
- Fainting
- A fast or erratic heartbeat
- Fever
- Joint discomfort
- Lightheadedness
- Lower back or side discomfort
- Nausea
- Nosebleeds
- Breathing difficulty
- Perspiration
- The swelling of the

- Pain in the abdomen or stomach
- Stools that are dark and tarry
- Urine with blood
- Coma
- Confusion
- Seizures
- Urine is dark in color.
- Urine production has been reduced.

- Itchy welts that are rashes or elevated
- High blood pressure
Warnings
If used during pregnancy, this medicine has the potential to cause substantial harm, perhaps death, to a growing fetus. As a result, it is critical to take precautions to avoid pregnancy when using this drug. It is best to consult your doctor for complete information and to discuss the use of reliable forms of contraception while taking this medicine. Inform your doctor right away if you are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant, or fear you are pregnant.
Precautions

Please advise your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, particularly liver disease, increased potassium levels in the blood, and dehydration, before starting this drug.
This medication may cause dizziness. This impact can be exacerbated by the use of alcohol or marijuana (cannabis). As a result, it is advised to avoid driving, using machinery, or engaging in any activity that requires alertness until it can be done safely. It is recommended that you see your doctor before consuming marijuana (cannabis).
Lightheadedness can occur as a result of excessive sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting. Severe diarrhea or vomiting should be reported to your doctor.
The use of this product may result in an increase in potassium levels. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before integrating potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt replacements into your diet.
Please advise your doctor or dentist about all products you are currently consuming, including prescription pharmaceuticals, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products, before undergoing surgery.
Elderly people may be more sensitive to the drug’s side effects, including dizziness, high potassium levels, and changes in urine output (indicative of kidney problems).
Please notify your doctor if you are pregnant or want to become pregnant. It is critical to avoid pregnancy when using candesartan because it may harm an unborn child. The drug’s transmission into breast milk is still unknown. As a result, before you begin nursing, consult with your doctor.
Interaction

Aliskiren, lithium, and drugs known to elevate potassium levels in the blood (such as sparsentan, ACE inhibitors like benazepril/lisinopril, and birth control pills containing drospirenone) may interact with this drug.
Certain ingredients in certain items may raise your blood pressure or worsen your heart failure. It is critical to inform your pharmacist about the items you are currently using and seek advice on their safe use, especially when it comes to cough and cold.

During the course of this drug, regular medical checkups and/or tests (e.g., kidney function, potassium levels) should be performed. All scheduled medical and laboratory appointments must be kept. Consult your doctor for more information.
Certain lifestyle changes can increase the effectiveness of this drug. Participation in stress reduction programs, regular exercise, and dietary changes are examples of these changes. Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist any prospective lifestyle changes that may be beneficial to you.
Maintain consistent blood pressure monitoring while using this medicine. Familiarize yourself with the technique of home blood pressure monitoring and share the results with your doctor.
