Uses

Hypertension is treated using this drug. Its main role is to lower blood pressure, reducing strokes, myocardial infarctions, and renal problems. Diuretics “water pills,”—include hydrochlorothiazide. It increases urine output to eliminate excess salt and water.

This drug also reduces edema from congestive heart failure, hepatic disease, and renal impairment. Lower extremity dyspnea and peripheral edema are relieved by this action.

How to use

Orally take this medication as directed by your doctor, usually in the morning with or without meal. If you this medicine should be taken 4 hours before bed.

Side Effects

Long-term use of hydrochlorothiazide can increase sun sensitivity and skin cancer risk. Limit sun exposure, avoid tanning and sunlamps, and wear sunscreen and protective gear outside. Sunburn, blistering/redness, or new or changed moles/skin lesions require emergency medical attention.
